Sports Injuries

Sports injuries refer to physical injuries that occur during sports or athletic activities, often affecting the musculoskeletal system. Common knee injuries include:

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) Injury: The ACL is crucial for stabilizing the knee. An ACL injury, often resulting from sudden stops, changes in direction, or improper landing, can cause pain, swelling, and instability in the knee.

PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) Injury: The PCL helps stabilize the knee by preventing the tibia from moving too far backward. PCL injuries typically occur due to a direct blow to the knee or falling on a bent knee. Symptoms include swelling and pain, particularly when walking or climbing stairs.

LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament) Injury: The LCL stabilizes the outer knee and is often injured due to a direct impact to the inside of the knee, such as during contact sports. Symptoms include pain on the outer side of the knee, swelling, and instability.

MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) Injury: The MCL stabilizes the inner knee and is commonly injured from impacts that push the knee inward. MCL injuries can result in pain, swelling, and difficulty with movement.

Meniscus Injury: The meniscus is a cartilage structure that acts as a cushion between the femur and tibia. Meniscus tears often occur during twisting or turning movements. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and a sensation of locking or catching in the knee.

These injuries can vary in severity, and treatment may include rest, physical therapy, or bracing depending on the specific injury and its severity
